So, this is my last and final blog about my professional Development with Structured Learning.
I want to start by talking about some of the things I have learned from this Professional Development. I really enjoyed the idea of having my students use Minecraft to learn. The articles I read on Askatechteacher.com about Minecraft were very helpful. I enjoy how Minecraft allows the students the freedom and flexibility to problem solve and create their own worlds. I love games, and I think games are a great way for my students to learn.
The information on Google images, and copyright law is very helpful! The more I am educated about Copyright and images on the internet, the better I can prepare my students for the dangers they could face in the future. The idea that there are people that create images just so they can find people that downloaded it so they can sue them was shocking. It really opened my eyes to what the internet world is like! And it is even more amazing how easy it is to track someone who downloaded your image illegally.
The final thing I want to take away from this experience is my new desire to create my own blog website! It may not be based on technology, but the education I received from this professional development, will be very helpful to me creating a blog in the future. For example I know there is only a certain percentage of content you can quote form someone else's blog. Any more than that percentage you can be in trouble.
So thank you Askatechteacher.com! And thank you structured learning for all of the valuable resources and support. God bless!
I went on to my fellow bloggers website, Alice, and learned about a nice little tool I can use with my classroom! (The blog is located here: alicefayebrown.wordpress.com) The website is called eduplace.com. You select Wacky Web Tales, and you can create your own Dad Libs. You choose words based on the categories provided and type them in. Then you click "See My Wacky Web Tale" and it generates a story integrating the words that you chose. I love games like these, because I have a very silly sense of humor. Seeing words that I put in make sense in some odd ways, really makes me laugh. So here is my story, I hope you enjoy, and thank you Alice!
"An Odd Animal"
The Freddy is an animal that has Blue fur with Yellow spots on its Legs and Knees. Its tail is shaped like a(n) Ferret which it uses to eats Submarines. An adult Freddy may weigh more than 7000 pounds and stand over 8000 feet high.
The Freddy can be found only in Peru and Canada. Although its favorite food ispretzels, it also likes to eat sticks. If you ever see a(n) Freddy, be sure not to ever sing “I Want it That Way.” That song makes it hairy. Instead, give it a few pretzels and be on your way.
I hope everybody is well! Here is a silent video tutorial on how to use the web tool Storyjumper. It is a cool website that allows you to create your own stories! I loved the amount of props I could use! I am a very visual person. I love animals, dinosaurs, monsters, and I know children are into that too. So I am very excited to use this web tool sometime in the next school year. I apologize for the video being silent, but once I find my webcam, I will hook up that bad boy, and we will have some awesome, fun, memorable tutorial videos. Can't wait. Enjoy!
BTW I used Snagit Pro to record this screencast!
